My mixed media art strives to…
My mixed media art strives to give the viewer more perspective on Nature and the elements. I love to paint because it allows me to be fearless. I use mixed media for both my smaller-scale work, as well as my larger scale paintings.
With this medium, I can create something different every time I am either working with the canvas or bringing new materials into the piece.
Things that inspire me about mixed media art
I take a keen interest in the elements that make up nature and infuse those elements into my mixed media art. I like to bring different styles of color into my paintings, such as abstract and landscapes mixed together, which allows me to experiment more with my art form.
Nature and Art
My Art with nature lends a style that allows me to creative. I am always trying something new, whether it’s a different mixed media material or applying paint differently than before, and this has helped me become a better creative problem-solver!
I love that this medium gives you the opportunity to create something different every time, which leaves you excited for your next project. I can honestly say that I have not created two mixed media pieces exactly alike yet.
How does Nature inspire me in my Art?
I am inspired by the different elements in Nature that you can see in each season. I love to paint mixed media during the cold months when there’s snow on the ground because it gives me a chance to express my more playful side with colors and textures.
During these colder months, mixed media becomes more about having fun rather than trying to make something perfect or too detailed. I like using colors like purple mixed with pink mixed with blue mixed with white mixed together which makes for an interesting color palette of its own! This is why I love mixed media so much; it allows you to be fearless and try new things.
How do summer scenes inspire me?
When mixed media art combines with summer scenes, I love using warm bright colors mixed together. I think that bringing these kinds of colors into your mixed media painting gives the painting a more vibrant feel! This is especially true when mixed with an abstract background.
How do autumn scenes inspire me?
I am naturally drawn to this time of year when mixed media art and autumn scenes take a unique inspiration because of all the dark browns, reds mixed in with orange which makes for a very interesting color palette. Mixing in different textures adds so much depth and dimension.
How does the spring season inspire me?
In mixed media art mixed with spring scenes, I love to use bright colors mixed together mixed with a pop of that mixed media texture. This way, you get a more unique feel to your mixed media painting and it adds a lot to the overall look! When mixed with an abstract background, this makes for a very interesting scene.
Materials I use
I am constantly searching for new materials because I love bringing different elements into my paintings. Recently, I have been experimenting with cut paper mixed with bits and pieces of vintage paper and the painting acting like glue and offering a distinct dimension to the art piece. This is also known as decoupage.
How do emotions inspire me?
When I come across an interesting mixed media material (which happens often), I like to search it up on the internet to see what additional information there is out there about it.
I paint a lot of abstract scenes, but I have recently been intrigued by the idea of using mixed media art mixed with less movement and more focus on textures and shapes. This is something that I would like to experiment with further in my future artworks.
Some influences on my work
My favorite thing about creating mixed media art pieces is how it inspires you to become a better creative problem solver! One moment you may be very unhappy because things aren’t going the way you want them to, but then suddenly something changes within yourself or around you even just slightly and suddenly your mood changes which inspires you to come up with a mixed media piece which is your interpretation of that moment. I believe this has helped me to become more versatile and think outside the mixed media box.
My art strives to convey different emotions such as happiness, sadness, nature aspects such as spring and autumn scenes, and natural elements such as textures using mostly less movement but still keeping it vibrant and colorful.
Where does my art take me?
My mixed media art has taken me on many different journeys throughout my life. The first time I picked up a paintbrush was during school.
My favorite part about being an artist
My favorite thing about creating mixed media paintings is how it makes me think outside of the box! You start out thinking one way, but then something else happens which changes things around making for a very interesting outcome. I love having this unexpected element within my work.
How does location influence my creativity?
I am constantly exploring new locations looking for inspiration. I moved to the US, which allowed me to visit so many different cities. I seek a lot of art inspiration everywhere that I look! Right now, I am experiencing more new things on my own such as seeing new places and trying out different forms. All of these experiences influence every part of my life including art.
My advice to other artists
You should never give up on anything that you love! You may not get amazing results right away or it may take some time to get there but if you stick with it and practice like crazy, you will end up creating mixed media art that you are happy with, in the end.
